Some pictures which (hopefully) give you an impression how this instruments work together.
See the Spaltspinne homepage for further information.
Black MAGIC mounted on Spaltspinne (the big, white cylinder) using a special flange.
Window extention for wide field optics. Only available for Black MAGIC.
The focus is outside the dewar (where the fiber ends will be when MAGIC is mounted).
The aluminium tape is for heat transfer to avoid ice on the window (didn't work this time).
Here again is the flange for MAGIC. There is a "Drucktopf" mounted inside the bottom of the flange which stabilize the "Ruessel" with the fibers.
Hoses for dry nitogen since the aluminium tape didn't work (see Fig.2).
If the humidity is too high, you can fill the flange with dry nitrogen to avoid ice on the window (this works!).
This is the "Drucktopf" mounted in the flange. In the center there are the fiber ends which form
the slit for spectroscopy.
Because of the background in the IR, the surounding metal will be covered with a mirror which looks back
into the dewar.
Here, MAGIC gets mounted on the flange. You can (barely) see the "Drucktopf" with the mirror in place.
This is the "Spaltspaten", located at the end of the "Ruessel". For use in visual wavelength or IR wavelength one has to change the 'thick plate' respective.
