Last night, October 30, at 11:30 p.m., a new and bright fireball with a large final explosion was observed over the Mediterranean Sea.
The detectors of the SMART Project, operated from the Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), and La Sagra (Granada) observatories, registered this object.
Two of the external cameras operated by the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería also witnessed this event, although one of the cameras had significant moisture on the glass, resulting in a video of lower quality than usual.

October 31th 2025
These days in October we are witnessing a beautiful display of fireballs in our skies.
On October 27th and 28th, the detectors of the SMART Project, operating at the observatories of Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra and Otura (Granada), Mazagón (Huelva), and Seville, recorded several events of great interest.
These fireballs could also be observed through several of the external cameras at the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería.

October 25, 2025
During the first part of the night on October 25, at 01:31:37 UT, a bright fireball crossed the clouds over the province of Jaén heading east, leaving behind a brief flash of light.
The object was recorded by the SMART Project detectors operating from the observatories of Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Seville, Otura (Granada), and Mazagón.
This beautiful fireball was also captured by one of the outdoor cameras operated from the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería.

October 23, 2025
At 04:03:20 UT on October 23, 2025, a bright fireball was seen crossing Algeria eastward, leaving behind a small trail of light.
This object was recorded by the SMART Project detectors operating at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Seville, and Mazagón.
One of the outdoor cameras of the Calar Alto Observatory also captured this beautiful event.
October 21st 2025
This October has been a truly intense month for fireballs. The latest one, a beautiful Oronid, occurred last night, October 21st, at 00:13 UT.
The event was registered with the SMART Project's detectors operated at the observatories of Calar Alto in Almería, La Hita in Toledo, Sierra Nevada and La Sagra in Granada, Mazagón in Huelva, Huelva, and Seville.
One of the external cameras located at the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería was able to capture some impressive images of this object.
- Several fireballs from October 15th to October 19th
- Another nice fireball during the night of October 6th 2025
- The first fireball of October has crossed the skies of Cuenca and Valencia provinces (East Spain)
- Fireball towards the north of the province of Albacete in southern Spain
- A fireball lights up Portugal… and is captured by Calar Alto’s cameras over 600 km away
