Problem: pics_ag hanging in autoguiding mode.

    Diagnostic :
  • pics_ag does no longer respond to new images as they are being acquired from CCD controller; CCD controller still active.

    Explanation :
  • The autoguider centroiding (in its standard mode) is based on a gaussian fit to the PSF of the guide star. In some instances when the fit does not succeed, iterations are not terminated. The autoguider subroutine does then not return, hence pics_ag hangs. Known bug.

    Solution :
  • On AG Camera IDL promt, type :
