Several fireballs took place during the first part of April. All of them were registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Seville and Faro de Cullera (Valencia) observatories.
The external cameras located at Calar Alto Observatory, also followed all of these events.
However, the only preliminary analysis that could be achived till present is concerning the last fireball, the one that flew Toledo’s skies on the 17th. Professor José María Madiedo (Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía IAA-CSIC), SMART Project PI, did the analysis and will probably get also data from the other two phenomenon, on 9th and 10th. As soon as we have the data, we’ll update this page.

Calar Alto (CAHA) fireball detection station, together with the one at the Observatory of Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) and others placed at different locations in Spain, are part of the S.M.A.R.T. project led by Professor José María Madiedo (IAA) to track that kind of objects. Specifically, Calar Alto (CAHA) station and the one at Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) constitute a collaboration agreement between the IAA researcher José María Madiedo and both institutions.
